About Me
Moritz grew up in the North of Berlin and chose technomathematics over pure mathematics. He noticed his mistake when he wasn’t allowed to pick physics as a minor and switched to pure math. Soon after he gravitated to the field of nonlinear optimization, modeling magnetic hysteresis in an eddy current problem at Fraunhofer IKTS. His first Master’s year was spent at Hogwarts-like Queen’s University, Canada, dividing his time between snowshoe hiking and neuroscience simulations. He was so mesmerized by Topology Optimization during his Master’s thesis, that two years ago he started his PhD under Prof. Hömberg in field of optimal control of partial differential equations. He says he simulates 3D Printing, but according to rumors he has never seen a 3D printer in the real world. Apart from hunting FEniCS bugs, his biggest hobbies are rowing, public speaking and writing in the third person.
My goal in life is to apply my love for mathematics to make this world a better place.
Generative Design
I'm working on topology optimization algorithms that help create optimal structures, which can be used in the engineering and medical realm.
Automated Arbitrage
Towards automated arbitrage trading of physical products I combined a web scraper with computer vision to compare products from different e-commerce pages.
Public Speaking
Having ideas is one thing, presenting them to the public is another. I joined a public speaking club and have been speaking competitively since.
